Lupe Fiasco - "Daydreamin'" (Feat. Jill Scott)

Short post tonight as this counts as my study break.  It's that time of year where it's starting to hit the temperature is starting to peak into the 80s and students (such as this writer) would much rather spend it relaxing on the Steps than inside studying for developmental psych, so I figured I'd take it back to this gem off of Lupe Fiasco's 2006 debut, Food & Liquor, that is a perfect springtime song.

For all of my hyping up of cats like J. Cole and Wale and all of the other "next big things," I have to give credit to Lupe.  At a time when D4L, Dem Franchise Boys, Bubba Sparxxx and other acts that hadn't heard anything from before or since since topped the charts, he was the first next generation emcees to prove that you didn't to have to compromise your artistic integrity for money and fame.  It is because of Lupe breaking through the proverbial mainstream glass ceiling that we are even discussing J. Cole and Wale.  I'm just saying...give respect where it's due.

Peace, Love, & Hip Hop,
WordIsBorn
