B.o.B Goes Platinum

So, word on the street is that ATLien/singer/producer/emcee/superstar B.o.B aka Bobby Ray has officially sold a milli for his hit single with Bruno Mars, "Nothin' On You."  I can't think of a better way to celebrate than to give shine to one of his better mixtapes, B.o.B vs. Bobby Ray.  Hit the jump for the tracklist/download link, a song featuring T.I. and Luda, and make sure to go pre-order one of the top albums of 2009.  The Adventures of Bobby Ray is set to drop April 27th

Ludacris - "Splash Waterfalls"

Because.....it's freaking Luda, what other reason is necessary?

Ludacris - "Runaway Love" feat. Mary J. Blige

I've never quite been sure where to place Chris "Ludacris" Bridges.  While the man brings an undeniable and presence that makes him immediately recognizable every time he steps to the microphone, for most of his career, his association with crunk and output of less than thought-provoking material ("Move Bitch," "Stand Up," "Area Codes" among others), has prevented him from being put in the same level of the Scarfaces, Jays, and Nasir Jones'.  I've always held that, for the first half of his career, Luda was consistently better on other people's material than his own.  Like nearly everyone else on The College Dropout, he dominated Kanye on his own debut album, but there are a number of songs he has been featured on that managed to slip under the radar, but he also makes Field Mob's "Georgia" and even managed to turn Asher Roth's "I Love College" into a tolerable song.

Ludacris - "Ludacrismas"

There aren't many (good) Christmas songs in the hip hop genre.  Though none will ever live up to Adam Sandler's "Santa Song," Ludacris' 2007 song of holiday cheer certainly gives it a run for it's money.  Originally written for the Fred Claus soundtrack, "Ludacrismas" is probably the best Xmas themed rap song of all time as Luda certainly puts an interesting twist on "Here Comes Santa Claus" (The song itself became the title of one of my favorite 30 Rock episodes).

Kick back and just chill like a player would do,
Remix all the Christmas carols then I play 'em for you.

Peace, Love, & Merry Ludacrismas,
Naughty By Noah

Willie the Kid - The Fly X "We Must Be Heard" feat. Ludacris & Busta Rhymes

I first heard Willie the Kid on The Kickdrums' January mixtape Smash The System.  Though the lyrical talent was evident on his freestyle "Sky High," it wasn't enough to stand out on an outstanding mixtape that was incredibly difficult to stand out on.  It wasn't until I heard "No Fly Zone" (video above), that I was blown away by this incredibly talented Grand Rapids, Michigan MC (who happens to be the younger brother of Wu affiliate LA The Darkman).  WTK is the protege of Atlanta-based DJ Drama, a highly respected mixtape DJ who has produced every one of his mixtapes and 2008 studio album Absolute Greatness.  I've attached the recent DJ Drama/WTK project The Fly (which "No Fly Zone" is off of) as well as a bonus "We Must Be Heard" with Luda & Busta off of Drama's Gangsta Grillz 2.  Keep a look out for WTK.  The Kid's going places.

Peace, Love, & Hip Hop,
Noah

Hip Hop Love Songs

(Kyle Lucas' Vonnegutt)
I apologize to the male contingency of my readership, but my better half is coming into town this weekend and I thought it would be applicable to drop some hip hop love songs for the LAAADIES (don't worry, I'll drop some songs at the end of the post to redeem my street rep).  On another note, be sure to comment and tell me what your favorite hip hop love songs of all time are...

Asher Roth and Ludacris - "I Love College Remix"

(I don't think I've ever see a photo that better matched a person's character)
I wouldn't go so far as to say I hate Asher Roth.  I would say that I am annoyed by this sideshow attraction.  Still, I'll give him credit, "I Love College," one hit wonder or not, is still a classic party song and the Luda verse almost makes me feel better about myself for listening to Roth (but then again, I nearly always love Ludacris guest verses).  I thought it would be appropriate as many of us, including myself, start to filter off to our assorted schools.

Even though I didn't finish,
I need my balls tossed like I'm at the line of scrimmage,
Blue 52, said 'Hike' on you hoes,
Eating everything in sight, like a dyke on you hoes.
-Chris "Ludacris" Bridges
