The Clipse - "Mama I'm Sorry" x "Mr. Me Too" (feat. Pharrell)

In the past, I've written that you have to be in a particular mood to listen this Virginia Beach duo. Their beats (courtesy of The Neptunes) are generally too slow for parties or working out while their lyrics and presence remain too vicious for relaxing.  But since moving back to a city where I do most commuting by car, I've discovered the perfect time and place to bump them.

As a white boy, The Clipse is the perfect to music when you're trying to get your Michael Boltin on. I have no shame in saying Hell Hath No Fury has been a constant part of my commute. It's a classic album, meant to be enjoyed while driving around.

Theoretically, the group's fourth studio album, As God As My Witness, should drop sometime later this year after Malice and Pusha T each release solo projects, but early-to-mid 2014 seems like a more likely release date. Until then, we can sit back and enjoy their classics.

The Clipse - "We Got It For Cheap" x "Flashing Lights (Remix)" w/Kanye West

Update: Fixed the link for the "Flashing Lights (Remix)."  If you haven't downloaded it yet, I highly recommend adding it to your music library. I also added a longer version with Kanye on it (even though I prefer the shorter version).

I've been a huge fan of the Virginia Beach duo, the Clipse, since first hearing their monumental sophomore album, Hell Hath No Fury back in '06.  I consider HHNF and Til the Casket Drops to be near classic status, but I typically find that one has to be in a particular mood to listen to brothers Malice and Pusha T.  While the crisp Neptunes production marks nearly every Clipse song, most tracks prove too slow to play while working out or at a party.  Conversely, Malice and Pusha T often deliver hard-hitting, wordplay that makes them difficult to listen to while relaxing.  This seemingly converse energy works well when paired with other Clipse songs, but also makes them difficult to place into a flowing playlist.  For me, I'll typically find myself listening to them when I need a quick Clipse-fix or among fellow fans.

Clipse - "Kinda Like A Big Deal" feat. Kanye West X "I'm Good" feat. Pharell

It's the return of the cool kids of Hip Hop.  Clipse is one of those groups that has it all: swagger, humor, poise, and the lyrics to back it up.  I was first introduced to the Virginia duo through they're nearly flawless 2006 sophomore album Hell Hath No Fury and have been a huge fan ever since.  They're eagerly anticipated follow-up is, Till the Casket Drops, set to be released on December 8th and I've taken the pleasure of releasing three of the singles they've leaked from the album.  I dropped "Popular Demand (Popeye's)" feat. Cam'ron yesterday on What's In Rotation, Vol. I, but hit the jump for the two other singles and the music video for "Kinda Like a Big Deal."  Also, make sure to check out Fearce Villain (of Dyme Def)'s cover of the song here.
